The trailer for the new Star Wars live action show The Mandelorian dropped and it looks better than I imagined. The Mandelorian picks up after the events of Return of the Jedi and if the impaled helmets of Imperial Storm Troopers are an indication, it doesn't look like where the show takes place in is big a fan of the Empire. Disney has been pretty mum about what the show is about and the Mandelorian himself but it seems that he might have a connection to Jango and Boba Fett as the official description mentions them by name.

Tie this up with the news that Ewan McGregor is coming back to play Obi-Wan in another show for Disney+. It seems much of the plans Lucasfilm had for films they are now focusing on Disney+ shows and I think I prefer that. If these shows pickup the "Darth Maul trilogy" arc that we've talked about in Cheerful Ghost Radio and are good Lucasfilm can make as many as they want.
"After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. âThe Mandalorianâ is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic."

I am there. I hope another trailer drops before the 12th. I want to see more of the actual story.

Quite interesting as I have recently watched a lot about Star Wars lore on YouTube. I thought this was supposed to be a Boba Fett show, I wonder why they chose another Mandelorian (assuming it isn't him). I think I saw something that he didn't actually die in the desert in the original trilogy.
You speak of Darth Maul and I kind of don't want to give away spoilers, but he's not dead either, or at least he didn't die in the prequelogy (I think I just made up a new word). You see this in The Clone Wars animated show, which was pretty good, I think. I think that show also gives you some good ideas about the Mandelorians and the clone troopers (they're based on Jango).
What media outlet will this show be one? Netflix? Amazon? Hulu? Either way, I don't really watch any kind of TV anymore, so I'll probably miss out on it (even though there are other things I've missed out on that I think I'd like to see).
Still, again, I've been seriously geeking out on some Star Wars stuff lately! I think it's making me a bigger fan of the series. I didn't dislike the prequelogy as many others seem to have. I also don't hate Jar Jar. From what I can see, I like what Disney is doing, if nothing else just creating more Star Wars media to watch, which I think is great!

Oh! Disney +! I read something about that. Anyway here's some news articles I just found.
One thing I'm wondering about is why Disney is being secretive about who The Mandalorian is. If the first episode comes out, and The Mandalorian takes off his helmet, or says he/she's part of the Fett family right away, then it'll seem like Disney was being secretive for no reason other than hype.
But, I'd The Mandalorian's identity is kept secret during the show, the secrecy will feel more earned.
This isn't really a show I'm super interested in, but my wife will be subscribing to Disney+ the day it's available (and I can't wait for all the Marvel content), so I'll eventually watch this show as well.
Yeah I'm way in on this. The canon on Boba Fett is way weird, Jango may or may not have ever been a Mandalorian at all, and just stole the armor, and Boba's armor seems to have been coughed up by the sarlaac and is being sold in one of the Aftermath books. BUT there's still room to spin it all as Boba somehow getting out and tracking down another set of Mandalorian armor but I hope they don't. Just leave that be. I want some Star Wars with new characters.
As for Maul: The Mandalorian takes place after Rebels, after RotJ even, so this can't have Maul in it. Maybe his syndicate is still around and can be there (and I'd love that). And the way the new Lucasfilm works, EVERYTHING is canon, and there are no levels of canon, just a group of people tasked to make sure canon doesn't clash at all, so Maul wouldn't show up and face off against Obi-Wan in his series because he didn't know where Obi-Wan was until a day or so before Obi-Wan killed him, which happened pretty dang near the start of Episode IV, a while after the Obi-Wan series. He may be on the planet but away from Obi-Wan somehow. I suppose Obi-Wan could know Maul was there but not the other way around. BUT again, I'm hoping for Qi'Ra and the syndicate, even if we definitely won't get that face off between Maul and Obi-Wan.

Right, good point thanks Travis. Maul with the Obi-Wan show?
Though if it runs for a few years they may expand that I guess, and they could do a live action version of the Duel from Rebels to have the two series overlap, but it would only take up a single episode.

Wow, this looks incredible. I've heard the reason why Disney isn't sending out press screeners is because there is a pretty big spoiler in the first episode.

Recent Updates
Every month we wrap up all the large updates in a State of the Wyvern post here on Cheerful Ghost, but if you want to know whatâs changing a bit sooner, check the Wyvern Changelog. Each time we update the game we update the changelog so you can stay on top of the latest updates that might effect how you play.
Beyond a slew of bug fixes weâve also changed and added the following things:
Primrose Park & Hero Shrine: Primrose Park is a new location in Other Places. It currently only has the Hero's Shrine that will honor the first 5 players to defeat the Wyvern in this game.
Forest Fights: We have removed the "troll" monsters or lower level monsters in high level fights that wouldn't give you very much gold or experience. All monsters at high levels are now appropriately scaled.
Forest Fight XP & Gold Drops: Experience and gold drops for level 10, 11 and 12 monsters in the forest have been increased by 30%.
Random Forest Events:
If you are fully healed the healing event no longer shows up.
A new random encounter in the forest has been added, so you can now find 1 or 2 gems, whereas before there was only an event for finding a single gem.
The random gold find event now gives you gold based on your level.
You can now be pick-pocketed by a thief in the forest. Make sure to deposit that gold!
NPC Interactions: Originally if you interacted with the NPCs Scarlet, Crugg and Jon Boyd they all awarded you the same amount of experience depending on the amount of charm you had. Now NPCs grant you benefits differently:
Interacting with Scarlet grants you experience.
Interacting with Jon Boyd grants you gold.
Interacting with Crugg grants you forest fights.
As always you can only interact with one NPC per day, but now you now can make a strategic choice based on what you want to gain for the day.
Jon Boyd still remains different in that you can have him sing a song every day on top of all this. As you gain more charm, the experience, gold and forest fight benefits from the NPC interactions grow.
The Outhouse: The Outhouse is a new location in Other places. We donât want to spoil the fun, so we arenât telling you anything else about it, go check it out!
Whatâs Coming Next?
For a bit more depth on what's coming next, check out the State of the Wyvern Cheerful Ghost Radio episode (embedded above), but from a high level we are going to offer more accessible Cheerful Ghost memberships and set the stage for a bunch of really cool new game updates.
Thank you for playing and let us know any feedback or thoughts you have on the game in the comments.
If you haven't played Tale of the White Wyvern yet, head over to https://thewhitewyvern.com/ now to play for free!
Just a thought about how to let people know about updates. I like the thought of putting a link in the new day screen. But a couple thoughts about that:
It has to be obviously different text. I never read the new day screen, but I glance at it to see my bank interest lol. If there's a message you want me to see, it has to jump out at me.
Also, leave the announcement up for a few days, in case someone doesn't log into the game as much as some of us do lol

1) There's a typo in my name here, it's missing the second g. No big deal, really.
2) "If you are fully healed the healing event no longer shows up." Thank you! I pretty much always heal when I lose HP, so this encounter pretty much never did me any good, just wasted one of my forest fights.
3) Thanks for the NPC stuff, too. I like how each gives you a different bonus.
Thanks for the feedback Adam, I'm not sure I have the best solution in mind but the simplest thing we can do is put a link there at the bottom and people can click it if they want.
We can do it if there is new stuff but, and it's not hard but an elegant approach on how to do that hasn't come to me yet.
As I said in the episode, I think some people want to know of new stuff and some people don't care so I'm not sure doing much more than making the link easier to find is a big deal if people want to just click through to play the game.

It looks like Ray Tracing is coming to Minecraft. According to an article (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/render-dragon-and-nvidia-ray-tracing), Ray Tracing will come to Minecraft next year. This actually makes me regret that I did not recently buy an RTX GPU. Part of that decision was because not a lot of games feature Ray Tracing yet, so it didn't seem like a technology I really cared about at the time. That part of the decision still holds true, although this news today brings me one step closer to wanting an RTX GPU. I also didn't want to spend too much money on a GPU. If I had enough money, I'd love to get a RTX 2080Ti or Super, but they're expensive.
I recently found out (thanks to Travis) that you don't actually have to have an RTX card to play the RTX version of Quake 2. However, with all the Ray Tracing features enabled, it's very difficult to get a decent amount of FPS to make the game playable (on a non-RTX GPU).
What do you think about this? Does this make you want to get an RTX GPU or do you already have one? Let me know in the comment section!

I'm jealous! I imagine since you have an RTX GPU, you'll probably get a decent fps. I managed to get a lot of fps for the Quake 2 RTX version, especially when I was in a dark place and also when I played it on lower settings. I don't have an RTX GPU, I have a GTX 1660Ti.

Fair warning: The Minecraft RTX beta is out, but unless you have an RTX 2060 or above, don't bother wasting your time. If you do not meet this minimum system requirement, the game will not allow you to enable the related features. This is a departure from the Quake 2 RTX version, where it required a RTX 2060 or better, but you could still run it, even if your FPS was horrible.

I didnât play the game for too long. I enjoyed the beginning of it, starting out, collecting resources to make my first set of cloth armor and tools. Then I had to collect resources so I could build a raft and set out to sea, I had to make sure I had enough resources, including food, for my travel. What makes this game kind of complicated, regarding food, is the need to monitor your vitamin values and try to keep those up. There are four types of food, each corresponding to a vitamin. Vitamins are A, B, C, and D which are (in no particular order) fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat. This meant you needed a stack of each kind to keep your vitamin levels in check and keep in mind that food spoils. You also had to be prepared with fresh water, as you canât drink sea water. Luckily, the Freeport that you spawn in has a pool of freshwater that you can drink out of and use to fill your water skins (which will leak over time).
Itâs a lonely world. Luckily, I donât actually have to claim any land to build, I can build pretty much where ever I want. Iâve restarted a few times, but ultimately, I found a nice island with fresh water, metal, and other good resources. I kind of feel a bit lucky for finding this island. I started building, but ran into a problem. If you place something like a workstation, or just about anything on top of a wood foundation and then decide to upgrade to a stone foundation, you have to destroy whatever you placed on top of the foundation, before you can place the stone foundation. Iâve submitted this as a bug. This doesnât happen in Ark, which is pretty much what this game is based on with the same engine, same files, and a lot of other similarities other than being a pirate game. This made me look for a mod like Structures Plus for Ark, which allows you to pick up anything any time. I found one similar called Atlas Architect, which has some stations which are smaller and it allows you to pick them up any time.
I would like to tame something, but I havenât found anything at a high enough level that I want to tame. I think my single player settings will give me a max level of wild creatures that I can tame of 150 and I havenât seen any yet. Some have been close, but not close enough for me. However, I was able to get started on building ships. I like the raft, but you have to go in the direction the wind blows and it doesnât contain much space for anything, nor any way to defend yourself from Ships of the Damned (SOTD). Speaking of them, they are intimidating now. They now can be found in fleets, usually about four, but there could be many more in a single area of the map. I wish there were individuals (as it was earlier in the development of the game), which would let me practice fighting them and be less intimidating. Taking on a fleet of them by myself is definitely a challenge.
I built my first Sloop. It took some time to get used to having to manage sails and a rudder by myself. I really needed some crew. Luckily, you can recruit crew members at a Freeport for just 5 gold. Then theyâll want 1 gold every few hours or so. You can also get them by destroying SOTD, theyâll be swimming with the debris of the ship and you can swim up to them, press a button to give them gold, and take them back to your ship. Usually these crew members are at a higher level than the ones you can recruit in a Freeport (which are all level 1). So, I found my way to a Freeport and recruited a few crew. Then I returned to the island where I made my home and built my first Schooner.
I canât recall at the moment, if my Sloop had canons on it, but I think the Schooner did. I donât think I used them though, maybe I did try at least once to destroy a fleet of SOTD. If I did, it didnât go well and I restarted from a backup. I use the same system of backing up my saved data and restoring it when I want, like I do for Ark (just by copying certain files to different directories). After I built the Schooner, I once again traveled to the nearest Freeport to recruit some more crew. Then I traveled back to the island where I made my home and started to build my Brigantine.
It was around here, I think, that I found and added another mod. In Ark, I use one that significantly decreases the weight of items and increases stack sizes. I found one for Atlas and was able to collect and carry a lot more resources, which was very important as each new ship requires even more resources. The mod is called Custom Item Stacks. I also had trouble keeping my vitamin levels maintained, so I began using a mod called MultiVitamin, which lets you craft a multivitamin which will raise your vitamin levels to normal. This takes food of each kind and a medicinal herb, but is well worth it. Having a vitamin deficiency will cause you to lose health and eventually die (which will reset your vitamin level, making death actually kind of helpful w/out this mod).
After I constructed my Brigantine, I once again headed to my local Freeport to recruit more crew. It was either during this trip or the next that I was unable to recruit any more at one point. Luckily, finding out why wasnât too difficult with a simple Google search. You can only have a max of 10 level 1 crew members. So, I simply just had to level up the ones that I had, which I didnât bother with before. They got levels easily enough and didnât take long to get their first one. I canât recall now whether or not I tried to fight the SOTD with the Brigantine. Once again, I headed back to the island where I made my home and started to build my Galleon.
The Galleon is huge! The max amount of gun ports on it is 52! Itâs definitely a behemoth, which obviously took a while to build. I had some trouble with previous ships where I built the shipyard in water that was too shallow and therefore couldnât get them out easily. Each ship, by the way, has itâs own size of ship yard. You have tiny, small (I think), medium, and large ship yards. You need to build each to build each ship. This will let you build the skeleton of the ship.
The Galleon has six large sails, but doesnât feel faster than any other sea craft (ships and raft). Maybe this is because I havenât seen each craft sailing together (which I obviously canât do in single player mode). However, more sails are supposed to make crafts faster and the Galleon is the fastest (and biggest) ship in the game. After I completed this build, I once again headed to my local Freeport to recruit more crew. I ran into an issue with the dinghy. You can build a dinghy dock on your ship. When you get close to your ship with it, you can select the option on the radial menu to have it return to your ship. This will pull it up and put it back where it belongs. There were a few times where I had crew with me when I did this and they disappeared, or seemed to, I may have later found a couple of them. It took a while to hire the remaining crew members I needed to fill my ship. It has a max crew limit of 59, but you can increase that by leveling up a certain stat (ships get experience and level up, too, maybe I should have mentioned that earlier).
This time, I did not return home. I set sail with the wind (if I have no destination, I like to travel in the direction the wind is blowing). It wasnât long until I ran into a fleet of SOTDs and I started shooting at them. The first time, I beat all four of them, but my ship was damaged and was sinking. I ran out of wood to repair it, so I was heading back to the island from which I came so I could gather more wood. On the way, I ran into a ship wreck and decided to go after it. You can see floating debris every now and then indicating that a shipwreck is below the debris. I had installed a diving dock on my ship as I did before on the Brigantine. So I hopped in my diving suit and went down. Unfortunately, it was night and I couldnât hardly see nor find the entrance to the treasure chest. I later learned that you can make a lantern to attach to your belt. I started dying and realized that I was freezing to death. I died, but was able to respawn on my ship and go back down to collect the items I had on my body, but I couldnât find my body, so I restored the files to the backup I made just after hiring all my crew and before setting sail the last time. I ran into the SOTDs again, but I destroyed them all and Iâm not even sure if any of them hit me. This was impressive, but it also takes quite a bit of time and effort to circle back around and against the wind after youâve sailed passed them. Once they were destroyed, I was able to collect the debris they left behind and rescue one person, because I had one more slot for a crew member. She was level 27, I think, but she disappeared when I brought her aboard via the dinghy. Sheâs still counting as part of my crew, so Iâm not sure where she is. This is where I have finished so far.
Since Iâm done building ships, I have a little less to do. I can tame creatures and collect treasure from shipwrecks, flotsam, and the SOTDs I destroy. I can (and have tried to) also find buried treasure using one of the many maps Iâve found, but the Damned (soldiers of the damned maybe?) are very over powering. I need to tame a good high level bear to help me take them on. I would like to build a submarine, but it requires me to make three different kinds of alloy (which are basically metal ingots). I have iron and thought I had copper, but donât and so I need to find more. I know there is an underwater trench you can go to with your submarine. I think one or more of the power stones is there. I think these stones allow you to fight the boss, the Kracken.
There are mythical creatures, too, like the Cyclops. Thereâs also a dragon and some more things you can actually tame or purchase (in-game not w/ real money). These tames will only last for a limited time though. However, if you defeat them, you can collect something called mythos, but Iâm not entirely sure what thatâs for.
There is also a DLC map. I think it was not made by Grapeshot, but another individual. I know itâs much smaller than the single player map (which is huge). I havenât tried it out yet, but I think Iâm getting nearer to feeling ready to do so.
A lot of this game was pretty much nearly impossible to do alone before single player mode came out. Although single player mode doesnât exactly make things easier, you can use mods, which makes things a lot easier. SOTD and soldiers from treasure maps are still numerous and intimidating, although I did find out I can defeat fleets of SOTD with my Galleon. There are videos on YouTube that can show you how to build a good ship to beat them as well.
Iâm glad they released single player mode, although I wish a few things were adjusted to make things easier (or less intimidating) for the single player. The map is huge and in multiplayer mode (the base mode of the game), each section is run by a server. So the map is actually a cluster of servers you can travel to. Surprisingly, it takes as much time to travel to different places on the grid at the same speed in both game modes, although it doesnât take very long at all. I think this is impressive, that you can travel to a new server and the switch happens very quickly.
So now that single player mode is out, do you think you might give this game a try? I might actually recommend it now, especially if you like building/crafting, taming, and pirate stuff like building ships, sailing, and sea battles. Itâs also a good game for exploring, although it can get boring out there in the open sea. Have you tried to play the game in itâs normal multiplayer mode? What do you think of it? Let me know in the comments, if you want to talk about this.
I may update this in the future as I play more, or write a new post.

I wonât go into all of them here, because there are so many. But here are the highlights.
Expanded multiplayer, allowing up to 8 players per session on console, and 32 players on PC.
VR support, for various PC VR systems and PSVR. And you can use standard controls or motion controls.
Heavy optimization, including switching to Vulkan rendering on PC. This one is huge for older PCs and AMD cards, and Vulkan has many other benefits for optimization across the board.
New story elements have been added to stitch together the multiple stories that have been added since launch.
Crafting, tech learning, and language learning have gotten a significant overhaul to make them more accessible and give players more choice. For example, the tech you learn is now in a tree, where you can pick and choose which path to take for what is important to you at the time.
The space anomaly is now a player hub, and Nada and Polo now have a bunch of new friends with them that can give you new story and missions.
NPC animations have been improved, theyâll now walk around and interact with the environment.
You can now ride some of the creatures you find on your travels.
Base building has been overhauled, and theyâve added powered objects and logic to the mix to make some more advanced bases.
One of the most requested features (though probably as a joke) has been implemented: you can now sit in chairs.
But really, this isnât nearly all. If youâve seen it in the game, it has probably been tweaked in some way. Check out the full patch notes here:

I was thinking about writing about this when I saw it a while ago. I thought about asking if you were going to do that. Again, I think you do a better job. Your bullet points make the post look good. Maybe I should take some inspiration, or maybe I shouldn't be a copy cat.
Are you going to play this again? I'm not sure, myself. I don't actually have it installed on my SSD yet, so I'd pretty much have to redownload it (I don't want to run my games off of the HDD).

FYI you can keep games downloaded and move them between your HDD and SSD. But I donât think youâd run into much of a hitch running this one from the HDD. Itâs the same few textures just arranged in interesting ways programmatically so thereâs less taxing on the hard drive and more on the CPU to build the world.
I have tried it on both and it only improves loading by a couple seconds so I let it live on the HDD.
But yeah Iâm going to try some of the new things out. Not sure if Iâll make a new game or not. Depending on how good the VR is (and how sick it makes me) I may finally properly play my PS4 copy.

I kept many of my installed games where they were on the HDD. I copied some over, that I wanted installed on the SSD. Unfortunately, Steam still re-downloaded the games that I moved over. It's ok though. Yeah, I know how to run games from a second folder.
You have VR? I'd be interested in how that works, looks, or plays. I have VR ready hardware, except for the headset. I'm not sure when I might get into VR, but it's not really a priority for me right. I'm still waiting for reality to bring us the Holodeck from Star Trek. I think that could be the end of society as we know it though. LOL
Do you think you'll write more about this update after playing it some? I pretty much always start a new game, I've never made it to the center. I'm not sure whether or not I want to jump back in the game right now. I did watch a video of Sean Murray talk about this update and how it basically includes three main features. He was smiling the whole time he talked about it, which I thought was cool. Here's a link to that: https://youtu.be/zAo7b4HjtjQ

That's weird, it should just move it right over. Oh well. I guess you could do the manual...
1. Rename the folder 2. Tell steam to uninstall it 3. Tell Steam to install it 4. Stop the install 5. Move that folder to the new location 6. Start the install
It should just reverify if you do that, I did that a few times before they implemented the ability to change it.
And yeah PSVR is pretty neat. Very cheap way to get into VR. It's not as good as the Vive I wouldn't imagine but it's great for what it is.
I may or may not write more, kinda depends on how neat it is.

When I installed the SSD, I put Windows on it and made it my primary drive. I want the SSD to contain my regularly used files (like games and apps), and the HDD to be my back up or storage space (for other files like docs and stuff). I created a fresh install of Windows on the SSD and so I had to install everything else fresh as well. So, Steam did not see that any games were installed (because they weren't). I tried copying game directories from the HDD to the SSD. It seemed like Steam was verifying the files, but still downloaded them anyway. I'm really not even sure that I'm noticing a difference in game load times with the SSD. The SSD definitely makes Windows boot incredibly faster. Maybe I did something wrong with how I tried to install games to the SSD and maybe I'll pay more attention to that in the future. The SSD is a bit limited, so I don't really want to install a bunch of stuff on it. I'd still like to install games on it just to see if there's any performance/loading differences. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. :)
Back to NMS, I'm just not sure I feel like jumping in it again. I feel like I've been through the beginning quite a few times and don't necessarily want to repeat it, although I always want to start out fresh with a new update. Perhaps with this new update I'll enjoy it more. The last time I played, I got stuck on a mission and pretty much gave up.

Oh! That makes more sense now. Yeah some games will have a big difference, some not so much. Fallout 76 seemed to load about 10 seconds faster on SSD.
And yeah, thatâs kinda why I havenât started over with each update, Iâve already put so much into it.
I wish my computer could handle the game! I bought it launch day and dealt with *all* the issues/bugs/crashes, and still thought it was pretty incredible. But it was missing so much that I expected it to have. Watching all these updates the past few years has made me super jealous!
...this is one of those games that the potential sucks me in so much, I might be willing to buy a PS4 and PSVR. (Although it likely would turn into yet another system that just sits there like both my Classics and Wii U lol)

Yeah Adam, I think theyâve gone well past what most expected it to have.
Going to be putting my PSVR to use tomorrow night on this. I'll be sure to report back on how it goes. :)

After 355 hours and almost a year after having played it, today I learned something about NMS. You can claim abandoned ships and keep your current ship! I saw this done by one of my favorite YouTubers, Paul Soares Jr.. I did a little Googling and it seems that there's a bug with this in that you have to put the inventory from your old ship into the new one and then you can claim the new one, for free, actually, I think. I don't know if that "bug" still exists, but it wasn't too long ago that people wrote about it. Do any of you have any experience with this?
Ok, so I tried it out, things are different. Why did it have to spawn me at a toxic and then a boiling planet? Uh. Yeah I started a new game three times. I don't intend to make note of all the changes I noticed here. I did get my star ship repaired, but I haven't taken off yet. One thing I do want to point out though is the GeForce Experience settings. They were telling me the game was already using optimal settings. I looked at the graphic/video options in game and the preset was on "Enhanced." I switched it to "Ultra" to see if I'd notice any difference, which I didn't. Travis did tell me once that you can't always trust the settings in GE. I think this may perhaps be due to a change in the game's settings and maybe GE didn't get updated. At least, that's what I think. I think the settings are different, but I could be wrong. What preset are you running with? Do you notice anything different between presets? If, so, what?

I never run with any preset, I fine tune it all, but Iâve got basically everything maxed with motion blur, chromatic aberration, and scanlines turned off so I donât get motion sickness.
And yeah you can claim those found ships for free, since youâre finding them randomly thereâs nobody to pay (though I think they added NPCs to some of these)

After reinstalling Windows again, I found out how to successfully move your games from the old Steam directory to the new directory without having to reinstall or redownload them. Since I wasn't doing a fully clean install, Windows created a Windows.old folder, which contained Steam in Program Files (x86). This is easy! Install Steam and then exit it. This creates a new Steam folder. Then copy (or move) all of the contents of the old Steam folder into the new one, open Steam, and everything's there! :) So, I just copied from C:\Windows.old\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ to C:\Windows\Program Files (x86)\Steam\. I tried to copy them over with Steam and Steam wasn't having it. Before, I had copied the individual game folders over and Steam still had to redownload and install them. This "new-to-me" method I discovered mostly on my own worked perfectly! I just thought I'd necro this a bit and add it here just FYI, in case some one here needs to use it.
I've been installing my games to an attached (on Windows) USB drive. This means game boots are slower but once i'm in things are fast. One upside is I don't have to reinstall everything when I reinstall or do something to Windows or move my games to a new PC.

Last year, Studio Wildcard (SW) received major backlash after posting a countdown on the Ark website (survivetheark.com), which ended up being an event that had dino skins (based on the new Jurassic World movie at the time) as rewards. Many fans, including myself, were expecting news of a new DLC, we were sure of it, but we were wrong. However, not much later, SW posted another countdown on the website, but this ended up being an announcement of a DLC, Extinction.
Iâm not going to spoil the lore of Ark here. If you want to know it, you can find it easily enough on the Internet. However, it seemed Extinction would be the end of Ark, or Ark DLC. There was a subtle piece at the end that hinted there could be more. There were also coded messages, which revealed another location in the Ark lore. This lead many to believe that this was not the end of Ark, as the story was still open-ended.
Recently, SW, posted a new countdown on their website. There were coded messages found on a website, which were decoded and showed SW giving us hints of something thatâs coming. The way they did this was interesting and it was also very interesting to see people on the Internet who were able to decode these messages. One of the encoded messages stated, âthis is not Ark 2.â People also were able to analyze the webpage code or scipt in Firefox and found a directory leading to a sound file. The directory was called âGenesis.â
It was a day before the end of the countdown and the Playstation store had a new post. It was showing a Genesis Season Pass along with some pictures of the new content. It seemed someone might be ready to lose their job after this leak. However, it turned out to be true. It wasnât really a leak though. The page was supposed to go up yesterday on 8/8/19. However when for us it was 8/7/19, it was already 8/8/19 in Australia. SW pretty much just laughed about it in their announcement stream.
Genesis is âa new chapterâ in Ark. You can see and hear in the announcement video that we are going some where where some one cannot help us, so she creates a cool robot-like thing and gives it her personality. This will make more sense if youâve followed the lore of Ark, youâll know who that âsomeoneâ is. This robot is called HLN-A (hint here). Itâs designed to go along with us on this new journey and help us along the way. It can show us when thereâs danger, react to our emotes, and encourages us to do things in the game. It seems it will guide us on our way to the end of the game or content. Surprisingly, this HLN-A is available now if you purchase the Genesis Season Pass (as I did). Right now, itâs pretty much a cosmetic âpet.â Itâs expected to become much more of something when the content is released.
We got a look at some pictures, which show off new creatures and new biomes. Two pictures seem to clearly be on the first map, called the Island (in case you didnât know), but SW says this new content will consist of two new maps. Thereâs a volcanic biome, ocean biome, and poisonous-looking biome. Part 1 of Genesis will arrive in December, while Part 2 will arrive in âwinter 2020.â I assume they mean Part 2 will arrive about a year after Part 1, because SW always released new DLC a year after the previous one. So, this year, just like last year, many of us are back on the Ark hype train.
One of the new creatures was seen near an active volcano and itâs covered in molten rock/fire. This creature doesnât like water, can be tamed, and acts as a mobile forge (for smelting iron). This is similar to how other creatures work in the game, for example the Giant Beaver acts as a mobile Smithy. Another new small four-armed creature looks adorable, but is Arkâs first shape-shifter. If it eats Element it turns into a larger wolf-like creature. It seems as though it will not turn on whoever it tamed, but can be used in some strategic ways.
Apparently, (as revealed by SW), people have been asking for another creature from the devs for quite a while now. SW stated that they just didnât have anywhere to put it. This is the new giant turtle looking creature. It functions as a mobile island, you can build your base on it, and harvest the plants/materials that grow on it. It can dive underwater and when it does, it creates an oxygen bubble, so you wonât need to wear SCUBA gear. This creature is massive and as such Genesis will have an ocean biome that this giant can live in, where it can be tamed.
There are a couple more things mentioned by SW, but I recommend (if youâre interested) to watch the stream, which has been posted on YouTube (https://youtu.be/zC7ArMfwz8U).
Last year, I was really excited for Extinction, but was a bit disappointed by it, mostly because of the amount of things that feel nearly impossible to do alone in single player mode. I donât want to be let down again, but I canât help but to get excited about Genesis. However, it does make me wish that devs wouldnât tell us long in advance about something theyâre working on and make us wait months or years at a time. Instead, I kind of wish they would just make the announcement when they release the content. The days do seem to pass more slowly when youâre eagerly awaiting something new to be released.
So, what do you think about this? Are you excited? Have you purchased the Season Pass for this? Itâs only about $35 and seems like a great value for Ark content released in two parts. Let me know what you think.
A few days ago I wrote about iD Software releasing the original Doom, Doom 2 and Doom 3 on mobile, Switch, XBox 360 and Playstation 4 during this years Quakecon. Some of the games launched with a few issues that Bethesda has fixed(like requiring you to create a Bethesda.net account) but how do these ports run on modern systems and stack up to the originals? Digital Foundry are some of the best reviewers around and run all the new ports through the paces in this video that's a must watch if you are considering playing these classic games again.

I'm looking forward to IG-88 most of all lol.
IG-11* apparently lol
Not sure what you're asking there.
There is a new Disney+ show coming out starring Obi-Wan. Darth Maul might be part of that.
Oh, I already covered that in the comment above. The timeline doesnât match up for him to be involved much.
Hmmmmmm. Unless the end of the show runs right up to Episode IV?
It doesnât, theyâve said it takes place between the prologue of Solo and the rest of Solo, so itâs a while before that.
Though if it runs for a few years they may expand that I guess, and they could do a live action version of the Duel from Rebels to have the two series overlap, but it would only take up a single episode.
Plus, that part of Maulâs life, heâd left the crime syndicate behind basically, and had become obsessed with revenge and sith lore.
Thanks Travis, at least I now know what it won't be
I mean anything is possible, Star Wars is technically a part of Marvel and the snap could have messed with that reality too, right?
Second trailer! https://youtu.be/TKoXWsGsvxU
Wow, this looks incredible. I've heard the reason why Disney isn't sending out press screeners is because there is a pretty big spoiler in the first episode.
