It's the most wonderful time of the year! We got a new Star Wars movie (stay tuned for more from us about that) AND Cheerful Ghost Game of the Year award season is starting! And as always, we need your help to make it awesome.

This is the nomination thread, so drop your nominations in the comments. We will keep nominations open through Christmas. The categories are the same as last year:

  • Best AAA Game: This category is for the Call of Duties and the Fallouts, the big games with big publisher backing.

  • Best Indie Game: The games that go their own way, sometimes self-published.

  • Best DLC/Expansion/Update: Any addition to a game that had a very positive effect, from... Read All

I was recently a guest on Game Dev's Quest which is a local Podcast all about the process of making Indie Games and in the latest episode I talk about Cheerful Ghost and my involvement publishing Starship Rubicon. Rett, Taylor and I talk about all of that and also round things off talking about mindfulness and chasing the next $60 game. For quite some time i've been thinking about how to structure the games I pick next to play to better fit in my life and find something sustainable because it seems like every couple days a new incredibly engrossing $60 game comes out I have no time to play. I really enjoy Game Dev's Quest and if you like a couple of friends talking... Read All

Portland Retro Game Expo is one of those things I can't miss. Two days dedicated to retro games, panels, a crazy huge free to play arcade and more retro gear you could ever want? What's not to love?

We are running with a much larger booth this year and because of that are doing more awesome stuff. This year we are running 4 Classic NES Tournaments, hosting Wick showcasing his upcoming Indie game Crescent Loom AND selling an incredible collection of VHS tapes!

Win Awesome Stuff In Our Classic NES Tournaments

I am very excited to let you know that Cheerful Ghost Radio is now available for you to subscribe to on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher & Soundcloud, and more to come soon! We wanted to wait to publish the show more broadly until we had a good amount of episodes "in the can" and with the release of "Episode 5 - Epistle 3 Story Time" we felt it was time to push the button.

If you have access to iTunes, the Apple Podcast App, Google Play or Stitcher I ask that you head over, subscribe and rate the show and leave a comment. Those comments and ratings really help us reach a wider audience and that's something we'd love to see the show get more of. We think the show is... Read All

For many people in The United States this 4th of July holiday is an extra long weekend. As the freedom explosions encompass our neighborhoods I'm curious what you're all playing and watching?

"Jon, Travis, Tim & Scrypt are back after the destruction of The Cheerful Ghost Roundtable for an all new Podcast, Cheerful Ghost Radio! We start things up talking about what we've been playing and watching and then dive in to the best things that came out of this years E3! Nintendo dropped a huge bit of news today in that they will be releasing the Super Nintendo Classic on September 29th! We discuss our thoughts on that and ask the question "will we be able to actually get one?"

This is the first episode of Cheerful Ghost Radio and as such we are still tweaking things to create a great show. Let us know your thoughts on the new show and anything we can do to... Read All

Here is the final episode of the Cheerful Ghost Roundtable. In our most final hour and a half we talk about what we've been watching and playing and then discuss the games that have stuck with us the last five years since we started the show. We round things off with the things that have changed for us in gaming since the show launched as well as things we totally got wrong.

CapnCurry joins us for the final Roundtable and by popular demand repeats his Gonzo the Norn story to end the show. Of course I can't help but talk about how I think The Phantom Menace is the best prequel and vow to never speak of it again in our upcoming Podcast. I hope.

I want to thank Mark,... Read All

We’re going through changes. The Cheerful Ghost Roundtable is entering its chrysalis, and when it emerges it will be Cheerful Ghost Radio, the new podcast by members of the Cheerful Ghost community.

What does this mean for you?

  • Better quality audio. Taking video out of the equation should improve the audio quality since it won’t be compressed like in Google Hangouts.

  • Better visuals. You no longer have to look at our ugly mugs.

  • More options. You are no longer tied to Youtube so you can listen whenever you want, wherever you want.

What does this mean for us?
  • We no longer have to put on clothes to record an episode!

We’d like to hear what you want from Cheerful Ghost... Read All
