I rented and enjoyed it, too. I'm not sure when or if I'll play the game since I don't have a PS4. I'm hoping it'll come to Steam. If you get it, please post your thoughts about it.

I read it all and didn't think it really contained too much spoilage. It seems like it's a great game, although it suffers from a few issues, especially crashes. However, I wonder if it would crash less or not at all on a PS4 Pro instead of the plain PS4.

Awesome! Did you notice the size of the battle area? The review said that sometimes it's too small and you end up accidentally stepping out, making monsters just stare at you. Did you see any technical issues?

Wow that looks pretty cool, much more than I was expecting from what I read about recently. It kind of baffled me how base building would be relevant, because this game is or was about exploring a vast universe. I figured they'd find a way to make it fit in and it looks like they nailed it.

Cool. Funny, before I went to bed I was thinking about the similarities and differences between NMS, Starbound, Terraria, and Minecraft.

I wasn't quite sure how this base building would work, especially since there's that remote possibility that some other player could visit your planet. Would they destroy your base and plunder your resources? Can you build in the normal game mode, or creative only? Is creative mode more like Minecraft in that there are no enemies or perhaps it's your own universe which others can't discover? I guess we'll figure out the answers eventually. I'm not sure when I'll check out the update, maybe when I'm done with Skyrim SE.

Well yeah, I remember that he said there was a remote chance of seeing another player, but it turned out that you couldn't. Still, could another player find your base? Perhaps the buildings are on the client side and the server just notes discoveries made, that seems to make sense.

I found an article that contains the video posted here and the patch notes. However, there's a very cool feature on this one, an image that helps you see the new visual changes. You can drag the center bar to cover or uncover parts of the picture to see the changes. You can also right-click on one side and open it in a new tab to get a bigger, better view. I'm not really a fan of motion blur and I haven't tried it in this game yet, but it does make a lot of sense for this kind of game. It makes me think of those space movies where you would see it. The TAA difference is quite stunning and it looks so much better!

Because of something @scrypt mentioned in the new Roundtable, I thought that maybe discoveries were reset with the planet redesigns and realized the better way to answer a question regarding my curiosity was to find out for myself. So, I loaded up the game and found that all my discoveries are still there. Like @scrypt mentioned, I believe I exited the game on a planet, but when I loaded it, I found myself on the space station. I went back to a nearby planet I had already visited, but not completely discovered the fauna.

What I noticed right away when loading the game was the musical change in the loading screen. I like it!

I also thought it was funny that I ended up landing in a cave. There is a beacon nearby and a medium-sized hole above it. I thought that was cool. I like being able to scan a planet from space and tell what resources it has. I like the new icons on resources. I also like that there are new resources I never saw before. I also like that I found 3 Geks in the space station instead of one (by the terminal).

Oh I like this update! At the start of it, I found myself in a space station, due to how planets were redesigned. So, I went back to the planet I was on to continue searching for undiscovered creatures. After a while, I found myself walking endlessly, not finding what I was looking for, then I gave up. I went to another star system and found myself on a mostly barren planet. I was looking for zinc and couldn't find any. There was no fauna to be found and flora was almost non-existent. So, I decided to try another planet. I found one that had something new to me, a "habitable base," so I thought I'd check it out. However, a distress signal came upon my screen above the planet and I fought off the pirates attacking the freighters. Once I defeated them, a new message popped up for me to land in the freighter and speak to the captain. It offered an award, one of which was to purchase the freighter. However, it was had 13 slots and cost over 7 million units. I only have over 6 million, so I took the supply reward instead, which was helpful.

I got to the habitable base and started to build a little bit. I got confused on how to select a color scheme, but a quick search on Google let me know that the Q and E keys were what I needed to switch between them. I didn't see this on the screen and I think it should have been stated. After a tiny bit of building, I had to go hire someone. I thought this would cost units, but it didn't. After that, the Gek I hired pointed me towards further upgrades, which required a scientist, so I hired a Korvax at the same space station. Now they're both giving me more to do and helpful blueprints.

I like all of this as it adds a bit of depth to the game. At first, I couldn't really understand why you'd want to build a base, when the point of the game was to explore, but I think this is definitely good for the game and I'm enjoying it. It certainly removes a bit of the same old routine that gets old a bit too quickly.

I like how there are new elements and certain things that give them. Even old things give new elements, so they have a new purpose. I think this is good for the game and makes it more interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what else the devs add to the game. So far, I think they've done a good job. I hope others agree and the negative backlash fades away.

I built a storage container, but I couldn't seem to fit one in my base, so I had to place it outside. It's huge. At first I was disappointed that it only has 5 slots. Then I quickly realized it can hold stacks of 1000. I also found freighter info on the wiki, which stated that they have increased stacks, too. They can have a max of 48 slots. Steam Autumn Sale is on! I went ahead and bought Dragon Age: Origins the Ultimate Edition for less than $8. I have this version for the PS3, but I'd much rather play it on my PC. I have the vanilla (not Ultimate Edition) one that I got for free via Origin. I'm not quite sure if I want anything else on Steam.

Anyway, I just thought I'd post an update about the sale.

I played it a bit, too. Aside from playing it days ago, I hadn't played it for two years. I thought it was ok I guess. One of my friends is always talking about the DA series, so I figured I'd give it a try. I have a demo for Inquisition, but I haven't played it much either. I'm not sure I'm too fond of the combat system in those games either.

I honestly can't really think of what I want, I guess I really don't want much. I know I should give the Mass Effect series a try (again seeing others rave about it). I have a demo for ME3, but haven't tried it yet. I'm also kind of interested in Far Cry: Primal. The newer Wolfenstein (not the classic from long ago) series is some what tempting, too. You're not the only one here that's said good things about it. Other than that I'm pretty clueless. I haven't given Assassin's Creed much of a try either.

That sounds pretty good. I was going to mention the Origin sale. If I checked that first instead of Steam, I could have saved about $2, but that's ok. The other DA games aren't on Steam, so I might buy them from the Origin store. I'm not sure if I'll do it now or wait a month to see if they have another sale. They are under $20 each (even for DAI's GotY Edition).

I'm interested in what others here are thinking about picking up, or if they think it'll be better to wait a month for the Winter sale.

>Agreed. Back in the day I played, and loved, Neverwinter Nights but for whatever reason, I loved that game and the combat system. Neverwinter Nights had the pause mechanic but I never used it or at least don't remember using it as much as Dragon Age seemed to require. I don't mind games you pause to consider things as FTL is one of the best games i've played, but in Dragon Age, I don't know, I didn't love it.

I understand, I'm not quite used to the whole pause play either.

I'm not really uninterested in picking something up, I already got DA:O Ultimate Edition. Although, I think I was just kind of excited about the sale and price. Wolfenstein pricing looks really damn good, too.

Yeah, that's what makes me think I should have waited before my purchase during this sale, because I did read that the Winter Sale has "deeper discounts" as you mentioned. My purchase this sale was a bit impulsive, but I'm ok with it. It's funny about how I noticed it was going on. Vinny asked me to add $5 to his Steam Wallet, which I do every now and then (he usually asks for $10). Once I went online to do it, I noticed the sale going on and got excited. He was happy, too, because he decided to spend that $5 on Spore.

Do you know if Origin has a near Christmas sale, like Steam, too? I haven't spent a lot of time with that store, I've only received some free games they offered, I haven't bought anything there yet.

Sweet. I tried to find my answer w/ Google, but couldn't come up with anything. DA:I was about 60%+ off, so I went ahead and bought it and DA2. I have a demo for Mass Effect 3, but haven't tried it yet. I should give it a try so I can decide whether or not to pick it (possibly the trilogy) up, although it's on Steam, so I could probably wait until the Winter Sale begins.

I decided to go ahead and get Wolfenstein: Old Blood and New Order. Also, since I remembered, I went ahead and got the Borderlands trilogy. I think the last time I looked, the "Take Over Your Life" Borderlands bundle was almost $90. Now it's greatly less. However, it didn't seem to come with the Game of the Year editions, so I purchased those separately. I also bought the season pass for the pre-sequel. All of these games are incredibly cheap right now. It definitely seems like the perfect time to buy. I'd like to note that all of my game purchases this Black Friday season are based upon strong recommendations from friends, obviously including our fellow Cheerful Ghosts. :)

Well, that's one of the advantages of being here, game recommendations! I remember years ago looking for game recommendations (which I do every now and then) and you and Travis mentioned Terraria (which I still love). Yeah, I'm intending to start with the original, then the pre-sequel, then B2.

Now I have to wait for all these downloads to finish and some are pretty big. I'm still playing through Skyrim SE and there's still more Ark for me. I'm not sure when I'll start these new-to-me games, probably some time when I finish w/ Skyrim SE. I might start with the Wolfenstein games, since they seem to be short.

Sweet, thanks for the update. I haven't played any of the currently released Nova mission packs. I guess I decided to wait for them all to be released, but I did pre-order them.

From what little news I saw from BlizzCon, it seems as though they may still have more in store for SC2.
