So Much Game, So Much DLC.
The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition is finally out on GOG, Steam, PS4 and XBone and contains Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine + 16 DLC's. That's a ton of stuff and you can get even more with it if you buy it on GOG. If you pick up Witcher 3 on GOG you get even more insanity including 3 soundtracks, comic books, manuals and videos. I'd list it all out here but GOG recently changed the page and it doesn't list out everything that the bundle comes with.
If you were interested in playing Witcher 3 now seems like a great time to pick it up!

That's what i've heard. Planning on picking it up closer to the end of the year as I'll have more time to play something like the Witcher 3 then. It's such a big game and I want to have more time to experience it all.

Yeah, there's a lot of DLC for it and I think it's all good. I've only played it through once, including all the DLC, and Steam says I've clocked 212 hours.
There's also an in-game card game called Gwent that is coming as a stand alone game soon. I've signed up to be a beta tester, we'll see if that gets approved. Here's the link: https://www.playgwent.com/en

I signed up for Gwent beta a while ago too. As a fan of CCG's I am really looking forward to seeing what the Gwent game has to offer. Do you think a standalone Gwent game would be something you'd play?

Yeah, I really enjoyed it in-game, so I'm definitely looking forward to the stand alone game. I just hope it's more single player focused than Hearthstone and Faeria. Yeah it is a CCG, but it's also not very much like those other two games. Oh and I also found every Gwent card in the game. I think I also defeated every opponent. :)

It's confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it and I'm sure you'll be successful. I probably should mention that I did play the game on an easy difficult level. I was more into the story than getting my ass kicked by enemies, some were still difficult though, especially at lower levels. The story was really awesome though! I cared a lot about the characters and I liked seeing other characters that appeared in the first two games of the series. You can make choices about what actions to take, which can change things. I really love it and I'm glad one of my local friends recommended it to me. The first two games in the series weren't nearly as good as the third.
I think I picked up an earlier title, but never played it. Sadly, my time I can devote to a large story rpg has dwindled. Playing hearthstone, and CSGO, and rocket league is easy. Match by match, no future commitment.
That said, I did pre-order FFXV, and this witcher 3 looks great, so I may have to try it.

@JaBo let me know how FFXV is. I haven't pre-ordered it nor do I have a PS4. I'm not sure when or if I'll get one, but that is one of the few reasons for me to have one.
Will do. They recently pushed back the Sept. release to November, which is great for me. Because my semester will be close to over. by time it comes out. It looks a little more promising than the last few titles.

Fallout 4 receives it's final piece of DLC content today in the form of Nuka World a vast amusement park run by a city of Raiders featuring an open wasteland and new zones like Safari Adventure, Dry Rock Gulch, Kiddie Kingdom, and the Galactic Zone. So far the new content is getting good reviews but I was wondering what you all thought of it? It's a bit sad that Bethesda is winding down Fallout 4 development but the ride had to end sooner or later.

Oh wow, I haven't played in maybe a year, but it's been in the back of my mind to get back to. My daughter likes watching me play, too, so that's a plus. (she doesn't like watching no man's sky, which was a big pull towards that game for me, as it seemed an awesome game to sit around and play/watch together.)
I've had a lot of fun with Prison Architect over the years, so this is exciting news!

I have too, it's a great game. I like that they've added much to it but part of me is a bit nervous it's "too much game." I really like sim games but there is a fine line between enough to keep it interesting and too much. I hope this version lands in a good spot!
Ya, I feel it's verging on over complication. Hopefully they pull it off. Too much detail or micro managing bogs it down. The autonomy keeps the game running smooth.

Keep watching our news here for when they arrive."
Faeria is a fun new digital card game that mixes up the format to feature a hexagonal board you use to place land and summon creatures. It improves on some of the more popular digital card games out now and manages to have it's own unique style well worth checking out and since it's now free, why not?
Faeria is available on Mac and PC on Steam and will come soon to Linux, Android and iOS.

I finally defeating some difficult foes in Solo mode. I tried so hard and eventually found some recommended card lists. Now I'm kind of locked out of solo mode because the next matches require at least level 13 and I'm only 12. So, I've tried the Pandora and Battle modes. It reminds me of Hearthstone in that I hate playing against other people. In Battle mode, you play w/ a deck you created against someone. In Pandora, you're given choices of cards and build your deck kind of on the fly. I did get one win out of six. The good news is that you still get exp and other rewards even if you lose. Also, every time I collect 100 gold, I buy a new booster pack, which is cool and actually easy to get. Even if you lose three straight matches in a row as I did earlier in Pandora, you still get some exp, gold, and a booster deck.

So I just finally got to playing the new version of Faeria and it looks like Solo mode has changed. It's a bunch of quests you can go through and it looks like there is more than there was before. What they had before was a bunch of missions and some story you could complete in any order and that unlocked the basic cards.
Looks like there are puzzles and boss type quests. Do completing these boss type quests unlock cards Greg? Because I didn't unlock every card in the old solo mode yet.

Completing those quests grants you exp, gold, and sometimes a booster pack. The Epic Quests can be very difficult. The Puzzle Quests are challenging, but kind of simple, too. I did, however, find a video that was made very recently (in the last 24 hours I think) that showed the solution to all of the puzzles. I got through most of them on my own, but eventually decided not to spend too much time trying to figure them out.
My strategy has evolved to rush. I like my yellow/desert deck. I've been creating plains towards my opponent, then I build deserts near them and their faeria wells. This has worked out in some instances, but not in all of them. I also have included some neutral cards to help me get started. This was after seeing deck recommendations on one of the main sites for the game. That site (link provided below) explained how each colored deck works. Yellow seems to be primarily rushing/aggro, while blue is about having control over the faeria wells along with some spells to help remove your threats, such as turning your opponent's creatures into 2/2 frogs.

Huh. Well the old Solo mode granted you entire card color sets for completing boss fights. Maybe with enough of solo mode completed you can do that again? Kind of sad if we have to just unlock all the cards through opening packs.
Thanks for sharing that link, I tried when I started playing a couple weeks ago to find something like that and I didn't see anything.

I just beat a Red Ogre matchup in Solo mode and unlocked 3 red cards. GLAD they kept this aspect of the game!

:) Was it a regular match or Epic Quest? I liked the red cards, too, but that page I linked above said red has the weakest creatures, which didn't seem right to me. I suppose it's true, but they didn't seem weak to me. Many of them do indirect damage, like combat makes it deal damage to your opponent. Then, there's that what 6/9 one with Taunt. When I built a new red deck based on the above link's recommendation, I got Talum (the forest boss) down to 1 point, but he beat me. That was during an Epic Quest, it was definitely tough.

At this years Gamescom 2016 Video Games Live performed a cut from the Hearthstone score called "Pull Up a Chair." It was recorded in VR and you can watch the performance in 360 degree view on YouTube. Even if you don't have VR you can move the video around and watch the performance from any angle you can making for a really interesting experience.
If someone is able to watch this with some VR glasses i'd be interested in hearing how that turned out.

Yesterday Valve turned 20. Valve pioneered the PC game digital landscape and also brought us an incredible assortment of games in that time such as Half-Life, Portal, Half-Life 2, Left for Dead, DoTA 2, Portal 2 and CounterStrike. Valve has been hard at work over the last year but it's releases are mostly support the Steam ecosystem such as SteamOS, Source 2, Steam Machines, the Steam Controller, Steam Link and the new HTC Vive VR. Valve has had a pretty regular drumbeat of releasing one game per year since 2007 but skipped 2014, 2015 and so far nothing has been announced for 2016. We may be seeing a new era of Valve in a company that no longer releases many games but I think we can all admit that Steam and it's associated lineup is pretty important to gaming.
Next year will be 10 years since any Half-Life, and 2018 will be 20 years since the first. 10+20=30. These numbers are in base 10. 30/10=3. HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED.
But seriously, either 10 years after Episode Two or 20 years after the first game was released would be a great time to reintroduce it. I've often wondered if a new game in the series would just be a disappointment, but we've had a major time gap now and I think the time might be right if they plan on doing it. It's still something people know about but it won't carry much baggage from the previous entries.

Honestly... I am over Half-Life 3. Like, yeah, i'm not really interested in it anymore. If it came out i'd certainly play it but I am not longer emotionally on the hook for this game at all. I think I just need to let it go. It helps.

"Valve has had a pretty regular drumbeat of releasing one game per year since 2007 but skipped 2014, 2015 and so far nothing has been announced for 2016." They released The Lab this year.
"Since I shipped FEZ 1.11 I had little intention of making additional fixes or features to the game because I simply donât have the time with a kid and a fulltime job⊠and working on FEZ is getting old after 9 years. So I did want to address problems that people have with the game, but I donât want to do it for the rest of my life. I had spent enough time away from the game that I was somewhat enthusiastic about coming back to it, especially if itâs at my pace, and that itâs my last time doing so.
So I didnât announce anything, I didnât announce a date, and I slowly chipped away at making this humongous update to FEZ. Itâs been in beta-testing with an army of fans, speedrunners and friends since late January 2016 and over 120 bugs have been reported and fixed."
You can read Renaud's full post below for a ton more details than I can cover here as well as the full changelog. FEZ 1.2 is out now on Steam for PC, Mac and Linux and is being well received by fans. As with any new development some new bugs are being found and it seems Renaud is looking in to fixing some of them. FEZ is a special game and it makes me happy for it to get fixes for some of these issues that should give it a much longer lifespan. I consider FEZ one of those games that really should always be accessable so I hope Renaud can come back from time to time and make sure it's playable on modern systems. It's really cool that Renaud was able to find time for this and I want to thank him and Ethan Lee for making this happen in their free time.

According to fairly substantive rumors Blizzard did have a follow up to Reaper of Souls in development called "The King in the North." This expansion was scrapped and some of the content was wrapped up in free game updates in the form of the new Adventure only zones Ruins of Sescheron and Greyhollow Island. I am happy that content was released but I am still wondering what more Blizzard has planned for Diablo III? Will we get another proper expansion or maybe they will make a break for Diablo IV?
I'm not sure we will get a new expansion or full new game but Blizzard has dropped some hints on their official Twitter feed that may point to some big Diablo news to come from this years Blizzcon. When a Twitter user pined for some new Diablo news out of Blizzcon this was the response:
"@Coleslaw1989L: @Diablo I really hope this year Diablo gets a huge announcement at Blizzcon.... :("
"@Diablo @Coleslaw1989 BlizzCon will be really cool this year :-)"
That's a far cry from official news but it may hint at something new for Diablo. Personally i'd like another proper D3 expansion to wrap up the Leia's story that was undone in Diablo III. That said, Blizzard may be working on a new Diablo game as well so we will just have to see.
What would you want a new Diablo III expansion or a full blown new Diablo game? I know some of my friends are kind of done with Diablo entirely after the disappointment of Diablo III so hopefully Blizzard can bring back some goodwill to the franchise.

I'm not sure which I'd choose, an expansion or a new game. I think I'd be happy with either, they both have advantages and disadvantages. An expansion would be more familiar and would probably cost less. However, a new game *might* be better overall, containing who knows what that's new. I don't think I was at all disappointed with D3, so I can't really imagine being disappointed with a new Diablo game.
Please keep us up to date. When is Blizzcon?
